BEAUTIFUL

CAMPING SITE

IN THE HEART OF THE ENGLISH LAKE DISTRICT

Our Facilities

Chapel House Farm Campsite is a comfortable and friendly site where you can enjoy the beauty of the Lake District in a safe and quiet environment. It is in the style of traditional camping rather than glamping .

While we believe that camping should be all about getting close to nature, we also know how important it is to be relaxed and refreshed .

The facilities are basic but clean . There is no electricity on site so if you can not relax without hair straighteners /dryers this is not the place for you . As a small independent site we ask that you take excess rubbish home with you . We can not take airbeds / chairs or discarded tents . Please take them home to recycle . ALL WATER IS MAINS & THEREFORE SAFE TO DRINK .

Hot Showers

The campsite has a shower block offering hot showers .

There is a 50p charge for using the hot showers. We can not offer free showers as there has to be a limit , they are five minutes long to aid with queues .

Please see the note below about winter months

Toilets

The campsite has an easily accessible, well lit toilet block with separate male/female toilets. THE TOILETS ARE LIT THROUGH THE NIGHT. You will need a torch to cross the site of course .

Ample Parking

We have a fair sized carpark but we ask that you do not use valuable space by bringing extra cars -especially at the weekend.

Vehicles should be left in our car park, rather than the camp site field.

If you have any questions about parking (e.g. if your vehicle is very large) then please contact us.

Dish Washing Facilities

There are three large sinks for dishwashing .

All three are cold water only

All taps run off mains water the same as the farmhouse.

Winter Months

We  close for Winter at the start of October ( although we do accept school groups until the start of November) Please mail ahead for accurate dates -as they may vary a little each year  . We usually open around Mid March -Thanks

What's Nearby?

If you know anything about The Lake District, you probably know that it is well known as one of the most unspoilt areas of natural beauty in England. There could hardly be a more striking example of this than the Borrowdale Valley.

A diverse and fascinating environment, there are rolling hills, surging streams & bluebell woods .There is also ancient protected woodland and the valley is one of the UK’S few surviving temperate rainforests. In all directions there are wild swimming spots. When exploring the surroundings there is a timeless air especially off the beaten track.

How to Book Your Pitch

If you’d like to book, just call or email us and we’ll reserve your space. (Six or more should call or bookahead)Alternatively, you can simply turn up and ask we generally have space but it is NOT guaranteed . Peak season weekends -especially warm ones are often full as we will not overcrowd. If we say non and you can see space it will be because bookings take precedence, We are not obliged to take everyone and will point you to another site if we are full.

Please ensure you are familiarised with the required reading section before emailing or calling as we are a working farm without an office. We expect that you know the price and all other pertinent information – Then you also know if this is the right site for you – Thanks for your cooperation
