Chapel House Farm is the only owner-occupied farm in The Borrowdale Valley. The farmhouse is hundreds of years old ,We are situated next to St Andrews church Borrowdale hence the name. The campsite was began by the Weir family in the 1960’s & has been run by them for three generations. This is firstly a working farm that predominantly owns Herdwick sheep- a native Lake district breed. The campsite is at the foot of the farms mountain Chapel fell. This is a privately owned site not affiliated with the national trust . We run it according to our own ideals and rules . It is a quiet escape for those who want to relax & enjoy the area and scenery.
The campsite itself is over 60 years old . it is a greenfield site in the heart of the valley. At times it is annexed with the adjacent vicarage field . The Campsite is Ideally located for the Coast to Coast pathway and the Cumbrian Way -as well as Scafell pike and a multitude of Wainwrights and walks for all abilities.
