BEAUTIFUL

CAMPING SITE

IN THE HEART OF THE ENGLISH LAKE DISTRICT

Important Information

Please read the following information before arriving:

Chapel House Farm is a laid-back campsite in keeping with the ‘get away from it all’ location.
As a result we do not tolerate drunk and disorderly customers. (which results in loud, abusive, aggressive and disruptive behaviour.) You will be asked to leave.

PAYMENT IS ON ARRIVAL WITH CASH OR A CHEQUE FOR GROUPS IF PREFERRED . WE CAN NOT TAKE CARD THERE IS NO FACILITY .

Visitors trust that the site will allow a good nights sleep . That said children run around freely . There are young D of E groups frequently throughout the season . This is not a rigid site nor a silent site but it is not a party site .

So if you are a group or individual wanting to stay up drinking- playing music. You would be better advised to look elsewhere with less restrictions.

Late Arrivals/ Early Departures
The site is quiet from 10:30pm, so out of respect for our other guests, we don’t like late arrivals as it often causes disruption and complaints. Please arrive by 8pm or 9,30pm on a Friday if you need some leeway please mail ahead .

Saturday arrival times are set much earlier depending on how busy we are . Please ask . We still have some first come first served spots on a Saturday but they can fill up quickly in peak times .

Likewise, for those leaving early, cars ought not to be brought on site.

We have worked very hard to create a peaceful and pleasant camping experience, please respect the other campers at all times .

Electrical Hook Ups/Tie Ins
Chapel House Farm is a traditional camping environment, and does not have electrical hook ups or tie-ins.

Location
Please can anyone unsure of the exact location of the site not rely exclusively on Sat Nav, as often this takes customers to the farmyard, a situation we want to avoid especially late at night . Please reference our map (click here) that will take you straight to the campsite gates . Thank you.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed on site free of charge. We expect owner supervision at all times.
No mess and no dogs running around off lead for prolonged times.
Under no circumstances are dogs to be left in the tent or tied up on site while owners are off-site
(Dogs are allowed in one area of the Langstrath inn).

Helpful Tips

Midgies and Other Insects

At some point in June Or July there are midgies around dusk and dawn. Please bring along some repellent around these times for your own protection and to avoid an unnecessary irritant .

Local Shop/ Restaurants
There is a small shop in the village called The Flock Inn (Rosthwaite) which is a ten minute walk away. It sells basics (eggs, milk etc)  open  10am-5pm daily . The flock inn is also a small cafe selling local fayre and homemade cakes . There is outside seating for a coffee and your food. Other than this there are two supermarkets in Keswick and two pubs in the Village serving lunch and dinner. The Yew tree is a new restaurant in Seatoller close by and The Langstrath Inn  is a close walk from the site.
(The Langstrath Inn is closed on a Monday BOOK AHEAD when possible for weekends) The youth hostel is also close by with a bar that serves food until 8pm and breakfasts please call them . Glaramara is a local hotel also with  bar /food . THE SCAFELL HOTEL/RIVERSIDE BAR IS CLOSED FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE.

50p Coins
We have plenty of 50p coins at the farmhouse, but please bring enough so as to avoid a situation where you are knocking at the farmhouse late at night. Many thanks. Once again you pay for camping on arrival with cash .

Gas Cannisters
We do not sell gas canisters for cooking, and in the past it has been problematic for people to purchase them in Keswick -so please bring your own.
Otherwise Keswick has many outdoors and camping shops for most anything else you forget.

Packed Lunches
We no longer provide a packed lunch service for coast to coast walkers contrary to any C-to-C guidebook that states otherwise. Sorry for any inconvenience.

What's Nearby?

If you know anything about The Lake District, you probably know that it is well known as one of the most unspoilt areas of natural beauty in England. There could hardly be a more striking example of this than the  Borrowdale Valley.

A diverse and fascinating environment, there are rolling hills, surging  streams & bluebell woods. There is also ancient protected woodland and the valley is one of the UK’s few surviving temperate rainforests. In all directions there are wild swimming spots. When exploring the surroundings there is a timeless air especially off the beaten track.

How to Book Your Pitch

If you’d like to book, just call or email us and we’ll reserve your space. (Six or more should book or call ahead)Alternatively, you can simply turn up and ask we generally have space but it is NOT guaranteed . Peak season weekends-especially warm ones are often full as we will not overcrowd. If we say no but you can see space it will be because bookings take precedence. We are not obliged to take anyone and will point you to other sites if we are full

Please ensure you are familiarised with the required reading section before emailing or calling as we are a working farm without an office. We expect that you know the price and all other pertinent information – Then you also know if this is the right site for you – Thanks for your cooperation
